What a plot costs
60 plots, priced by where they stand and by what you put on them. Every price below is the price of one week, in USD. Buy between one and 4 weeks at a time and pay for them once — nothing renews, no card is kept, and when the weeks run out the building comes down and the plot is somebody else’s to take.
A plot can also change hands before its weeks are up, but only upwards: a house makes way for three storeys, three storeys for a tower, and a shorter tower for a taller one. At the full 10 storeys there is no height left to beat, so money settles it instead. The terms page has the whole rule.
Nothing is being charged yet. The town is still opening, so a plot is claimed rather than bought and no card is asked for. The prices below are what will be taken when it is, and are on this page now so that nobody finds out what a plot costs at the moment they are asked to pay for it.
What you are buying
A numbered plot in the town, and a building on it. The building carries your logo laid flat across its roof, the same logo repeated up both faces the fixed camera can see, your name in a band above them, and two billboards on posts at the fence. Walk anybody up to it and a card comes up with your name, your tagline and your links — GitHub, X, Discord, your own site.
There is one town, and it is the same town for everybody. What you build is what every other visitor walks past.
The prices
| Building | Storeys | Zone 2, a week | Zone 1, a week |
|---|---|---|---|
| House | 1 | $5 | $10 |
| Triplex | 3 | $20 | $40 |
| Tower | 6, and up | $50 | $100 |
All prices are in USD, per week, and charged once for however many weeks are bought. The most a week can cost is $180 — a 10-storey tower on the square — and the most anybody can be charged at once is 4 of those, $720, before any money put on top.
The two zones
Zone 1 is the 12 plots facing the town square. It costs double, for the reason it is worth double: everybody who arrives spawns in the square, and those are the buildings they are standing in front of before they have walked anywhere.
Zone 2 is the other 48 plots, out along the streets. The camera never rotates, so no plot is ever behind another for the sake of it — a building that hides one behind it gives way when somebody walks up to the one it hides, and its own signs never fade at all.
Taller towers
A tower comes with 6 storeys and takes one more for each $10 — $20 a storey on the square — up to 10. That is a limit rather than a price point: past ten storeys a tower starts hiding the town underneath it, and the town is what the other fifty-nine people paid for.
Which is why a tower at 10 storeys can take money on top instead. There is no height left for it to be beaten on, so what it has put down is what holds the plot: it makes way only for a tower that has put down more, in any amount, with no ceiling. It is the one place in the town where paying more buys anything but a bigger building.
Paying
Payment is handled by Creem, which sells as merchant of record: the receipt comes from them, any tax is worked out by them, and a charge you do not recognise on a statement will carry their name rather than mine. Card details are entered on their pages and never reach this server.
Refunds
14 days, no reason asked for, for the weeks you have not yet stood. The plot is cleared, it goes back on the market and the money goes back to the card. A week already spent on the street was delivered and is not returned. After that a purchase is final, apart from the one case the terms set out — a building taken down by mistake.
